We all want a beautiful healthy smile, we do everything we can to keep up a healthy dental routine of brushing, flossing and using mouth wash, but sometimes we want to go that extra mile. Here is a simple, two-step program on what to do in order to keep your pearly whites even whiter!

Step 1

Activated Charcoal

Activated charcoal is a highly absorbent substance that removes toxins when they come in contact. It is not absorbed by the body, but passes through the digestive system so chemicals and toxins adhere to it which then pass through the body and are expelled by the digestive system. This adhesive property is used when whitening teeth and when the charcoal comes into contact with whatever toxins are slowly deteriorating your teeth. How this is done is by taking a clean, wet toothbrush and dipping it into some loose powder activated charcoal. Make sure to either line your sink with paper towels or have somewhere to hover over with a toothbrush and mouth full of charcoal or be prepared to face the consequence which is generally a dirty sink. Brush in small gentle circles ideally with a soft bristle brush for about two minutes and rinse thoroughly and you will be left with cleaner, brighter teeth!

Step 2

Coconut Oil Pull

We all know that coconut oil has an insane amount of health benefits, but did you know that it is also fantastic for oral hygiene? This technique called oil pulling is essentially using coconut oil as a form of mouthwash. How it is done is really quite simple. You take a tablespoon full of coconut oil and swish it around in your mouth for 15 minutes, spit it out and then brush your teeth. The main benefit you get from this is that coconut oil pulls are fantastic for reducing the amount of harmful bacteria you may have in your mouth as well as reducing plaque build-up and gingivitis.

And there you have it! Two new techniques to step up your oral hygiene game! No more messing around, it is time to clean up and get that smile shining! Add these habits every couple of days out of your week and you will be having a healthy glowing smile that will make you light up a room in no time.
